NGP unveiled by Sony in Tokyo. Next Generation Portable that is
The dubiously named device comprises a 5-inch OLED touch screen screen as well as Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity to download games and other content. (though if its anything like the available anorexic content on PSN it will be largely unused for anything other than games...)
The oval design (182.0 x 18.6 x 83.5mm) also features a rear panel touchpad to control specific actions and a motion sensor. (cos the six access control gets lots of use....)
There is a front and rear camera too plus the traditional navigation buttons and at long last, dual analogue sticks.
Doesn't seem Sony have learnt anything from the design of the original PSP having kept its large oval shape. But then they never have had much use for criticism, have they! Also it seems they have developed another non-propriety card for the NGP. Introduced as game media, whether this is also the storage media I'm unsure. SD card support, who would want that? :/
Kinda good news for android owners though in that Sony plans a PlayStation app that will allows users to download games of "the same quality of the original PlayStation". Wonder if that will mean original PS titles? like on PSN network? Apparently these are to be also compatible with the NGC. Though I doubt that if you bought it for one system it would let you use it on the other...
